PASSION TO GET IT RIGHT

Head Brewer, Jesse Prall

Like many brewers who apprenticed to get their start, The Englewood’s Head Brewer found his early days were not short on hours of cleaning and stacking kegs. After paying his dues, Jesse was soon hired on as brewer and eventually worked his way into Head Brewer position at Appalachian Brewing Company in his hometown of Harrisburg, PA. In his time there, Jesse formulated many of the award-winning recipes that are still being enjoyed on tap there today.

After collecting numerous medals in both regional and national level craft beer competitions (such renowned contests as the Great American Beer Fest & World Beer Cup) Jesse felt it was time to explore other brewing styles. A few short months later he was practicing the art of ‘extreme brewing’ with Sam Calagione and company at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. Jesse spent the next ten years at Dogfish Head Brewing discovering the true meaning of “niche-brewing” as he worked his way up through the company, starting as Cellar Supervisor, Brewing Supervisor, and eventually as a Research & Development Brewer. In addition to helping develop and brew some of the nation's finest, unique, award-winning brews, Jesse found new ways to explore how the world engages the craft brewing art.

Never one to turn down adventure, Jesse then explored his own dream with a few old friends from the industry. Rubber Soul Brewing came onto the craft beer scene in 2014 and had an immediate fan base because of Jesse’s pedigree.

Jesse’s creativity, brewing acuity, and wide-ranging system experience (brewing on anything from a 1 barrel to 200 barrel systems) make him a rare find within the brewing world. And that’s why the Englewood team wanted to snag him and his expertise. Jesse’s talent rounds out The Englewood’s full experience of sights, sounds, tastes, and smells.

His new creations will come to life and be served on-site—as fresh as it gets.

the big dog

Brew Dog, Lefty

Not his first rodeo, this dog’s been around a brewery a time or two. He checks inventory, runs security, and keeps Jesse in line. He isn’t all fun and games though—his bad boi days got him a beer with his moniker—Lefty At Large Black IPA.
